We were honored to present to group of physicians from our community at a continuing education event sponsored by the Chuckanut Health Foundation, Northwest Medical Society, and Whatcom Dept of Health.
Dr Jim Walsh from Swedish was the keynote speaker. He emphasized how life saving the medications for opioid use disorder, buprenorphine/naloxone, methadone are.
He was his usual lively entertaining and incredibly informative self.
We presented the success that we see in so many of our patients in achieving long term recovery. We shared some of your stories.
We shared our community resources pages on our website cascademedicaladvantage.org
Natalie Andrews RN our Nurse case managers work was highlighted, and the tremendous achievements of so many new mothers and families. People are raising healthy children, making progress in their education, jobs, and relationships with family and friends as they have more and more "clean" time, or drug free time off fentanyl, heroin, or pain pills.
Kudos to all of you!
We had a audio clip I would like to share. From a gentleman I met from Portugal.
About their experience with drug decriminalization.
They are strict against crime.
Commit a crime and go to jail there.
But having a drug or alcohol problem is not a crime there.
