Transitioning from active Fentanyl use to stabilization on Buprenorphine using long acting injections. The three shot method really works.

We have received a grant allowing us to give anyone, uninsured or insured long acting injectable buprenorpine. This three day, consecutive method of getting off fentanyl and stabilizing on buprenorphine really works. It avoids precipitated withdrawal. Former daily fentanyl users feel well with little if any cravings and urges to use. They also have protection against relapse and overdose due to the higher levels of buprenorphine achieved with long acting monthly injections. Once stabilized off fentanyl they can transition to the sublingual buprenorphine whenever they wish.
